Audio Technician

POSITION SUMMARY

The Primary role of the Audio technician is to set up and operate various soundboards in different lounges around the ship. This will include microphones, monitor speakers, video screens, recording equipment plus connecting cords and wires.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  As Audio Technician you will be assisting the Stage Manager with operating equipment for the evening’s Entertainment, as well as daily shows and activities.
  •  You will be maintaining strict safety standards, facilitating special group requests and ensuring the rig is fully maintained.
  • The Audio Technician is expected to maintain and inspect all Audio Equipment and to track all inventory in order to ensure that all supplies and equipment are available for each show.
  • You must have live experience and able to mix anywhere from 3 to 8 live performers plus a band or orchestra.
  • Advanced knowledge of Analogue and Digital Audio consoles is a must.
  • Audio Technicians require knowledge of Lexicon effects processors, tape and hard drive playback systems as well as various gate and compressor units.
  • You must also assist other technicians with scenery changeovers and maintenance and be able to troubleshoot PA’s and help repair when required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have 3 years professional theater experience, with education and/or comparable work experience in technical theater audio engineering
Must have experience with both large analog digital mixing consuls – at least 48 channels or more
Must have experience with multi-track playback devices, mixing large orchestras and multiple singers

Maintenance and repair experience preferred

  • All staff MUST comply with all company policies and procedures, along with all maritime rules and regulations.
  • Participate in required Emergency duties as specified in the ship Assembly Plan.
  • Technicians are responsible for the maintenance of all equipment, including storage and inventory of all Equipment.
  • Assist in the facilitation of crew events, as needed.
  • Comply and engage in all safety training whilst onboard.
  • Execute additional job responsibilities.

  • If you are from a country that requires a visa, it will be your responsibility to ensure you have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman’s visa (you will be provided with documents to obtain the visa)
  • You must complete a pre-employment medical and obtain a criminal background check before being considered for an onboard position.
  • Cabins are generally shared with another crew member of the same gender, based on position onboard.
  • Contracts are usually 6 months long with 4-6 weeks’ vacation.
