Disc Jockey
POSITION SUMMARY
The Primary role of the DJ is to play a various mixture of music keeping guests entertained in the ships nightclub. You will need to orchestrate an inviting and energetic atmosphere for onboard events in the appropriate venues.
This position will concentrate on strong microphone skills and throughout the cruise there will be theme nights and entertainment activities so musical knowledge of multiple genres is essential.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- As Disc Jockey you will be assisting the Cruise Director with multiple activities throughout your contract. You will observe and learn to host, train and create different events at different levels during your time onboard.
- You must be able to Mix and/or beat match several different styles of popular music.
- In addition to playing music in the Nightclub, you will be required to make playlists for shipboard activities including Pool games, Bingo and Game shows.
- You will need to maintain daily playlists and reports about the evening’s events.
- You will be required to engage in conversations with guests at different events during the cruise, which will include doors duties before and after show times in the main theatre. This will also include Major meet and greet events such as, but not limited to, the Captain’s Cocktail and Guest Repeater’s Parties.
- The Disc Jockey will assist the Cruise staff and host numerous events, which change from ship to ship which will include, but not limited to, Trivia’s, Horseracing, Deck parties, Theme nights and Bingo.
- All Entertainment Staff will need to show good microphone skills and friendly demeanor while presenting activities in a clear and proper manner.
- DJ’s are responsible for the maintenance of all equipment, including storage and inventory of all music libraries.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have professional DJ experience w/ ability to motivate audience
- Master of ceremonies or professional entertainment experience preferred
- Must have extensive knowledge of variety of music
- Must have ability to operate a variety of music audio equipment
All staff MUST comply with all company policies and procedures, along with all maritime rules and regulations. - Participate in required Emergency duties as specified in the ship Assembly Plan.
- DJ’s are responsible for the maintenance of all equipment, including storage and inventory of all music libraries.
- Assist in the facilitation of crew events, as needed.
- Follows scripts, as necessary.
- Execute additional job responsibilities.
Please note:
It is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman’s visa (KMCC will provide you with documents to obtain this)
You must complete a pre-employment medical and obtain a criminal background check before being considered for an onboard position.
Cabins are generally shared with another crew member of the same gender, based on position onboard.
Contracts are usually 6 months long with 4-6 weeks vacation.
